RunnerCalc
Instascore™ - Full results within seconds of last runner finishing!
Instascore™ is a new feature in RunnerCalc Version 2.10 that allows scoring and results to be posted within seconds of the finish of a race. This is accomplished by simultaneously inputting both the timing and barcode scanning into a RunnerCalc computer as the race progresses, so that full scoring and results with runner times can be obtained as soon as the last racer crosses the finish line! Short of expensive chip-timing systems, there is no simpler, faster way to score cross country races available anywhere!
Typically, at the end of a race it is necessary to scan or enter barcodes and also to either type in all the runner times or download and import
them from a recording stopwatch. Those steps can take precious minutes. Only then can the scoring and printing of results take place. But with
Instascore™ you input times and scan barcodes directly to RunnerCalc
as the race progresses. When the last runner crosses the finish line and his
bib number is scanned, scoring and results can be done immediately—within seconds of the finish.
Times are input by pressing a key either directly on the laptop, on a separate USB-connected keypad or on a remote wireless key
device.
Barcodes are scanned using either a wireless barcode scanner or a wired one with a USB extension cable while the runners are passing through the
chute (at a point far enough down the chute to avoid congestion at the finish line). RunnerCalc sorts out any conflicts in the inputs and aligns all
runner times and numbers on the fly. A single press of a button inserts all the results into the race finish and results are immediately ready to print and share.
Recommendations are included for the necessary equipment and how to set it up. All of the equipment can be purchased for under $100 (not including the laptop or RunnerCalc itself).
